What’s a Rich Text element?

The rich text element allows you to create and format headings, paragraphs, blockquotes, images, and video all in one place instead of having to add and format them individually. Just double-click and easily create content.

Static and dynamic content editing

A rich text element can be used with static or dynamic content. For static content, just drop it into any page and begin editing. For dynamic content, add a rich text field to any collection and then connect a rich text element to that field in the settings panel. Voila!

How to customize formatting for each rich text

Headings, paragraphs, blockquotes, figures, images, and figure captions can all be styled after a class is added to the rich text element using the "When inside of" nested selector system.

Cafés where rustic meets modern

May 20, 2025

Do you want your café to be a place where guests feel at home and appreciate modern comfort? The rustic style in café interiors has never gone out of fashion. It feels cosy, evokes a sense of home and connects customers with the history of the city. On the other hand, modern amenities bring functionality, cleanliness and technology that make operations easier and improve the customer experience. The combination of these two trends creates an unmistakable atmosphere that attracts guests and sets the business apart from the competition.

Key rustic elements: a return to the roots

Rustic design is characterised by naturalness and authenticity. The use of natural materials and vintage accessories adds warmth and character to the interior.

  • Exposed brick and whitewashed walls – Bare walls without plaster or partially exposed brick bring industrial charm and nostalgia.
  • Wooden elements with patina – Solid tables, wooden beams or floors with visible signs of age create a feeling of authenticity.
  • Metal and stone – The combination of raw metal, for example in the form of wrought iron details or industrial light fittings, and stone gives the space a natural balance.
  • Vintage furniture – Chairs and armchairs with a worn look, solid wood shelves or old chests of drawers add personality to a space.

Modern touches: technology and elegance in one

While rustic style adds soul, modern amenities ensure practicality and comfort. The right combination of elements ensures that the space is not only beautiful but also functional.

  • Clever lighting – LED strips integrated into the shelves, dimmable lights or designer pendant lights enhance the atmosphere.
  • Minimalist furniture – Simple lines and subtle shapes complement the rustic robustness and bring aesthetic balance.
  • Modern shelving systems – Open shelving combining metal and wood allows for flexibility and variation in product display.
  • Glass and stainless steel – The materials used for counters, display cases and bar sections give the space a clean and elegant look.

How to combine rustic and modern style?

Combining these two worlds requires a sense of balance. How to achieve this?

🔹Contrasts in materials – For example, combine rough-hewn wood with minimalist metal shelving or brick walls with modern lighting.

🔹Function zones – Placing modern amenities such as smart coffee machines and payment terminals on rustic counters creates an interesting dialogue between old and new.

🔹Playing with light colours – Rustic interiors usually use warm tones that can be complemented perfectly with modern lighting elements and neutral shades.

Inspiration from practice: where has this concept worked?

A café in a historic building – The combination of original wooden beams, concrete floors and modern metal and glass furniture created the perfect mix of tradition and innovation.

A boutique café with an artistic twist – The combination of vintage decor, modern bar stools and clever technology created a unique customer experience.

Industrial café – The use of recycled materials such as iron pipes and solid wood, combined with LED backlighting on the shelves, gave the space a distinctive feel.

The use of recycled materials not only adds to the authenticity of the rustic style, but also promotes sustainability. Wood from original buildings, reclaimed furniture or LED lighting can reduce the café's ecological footprint and appeal to environmentally-minded customers.

Why combine rustic and modern style?

  • Creates a unique atmosphere – Guests will remember a space that combines history with modern comfort.
  • Feels authentic – Combining natural materials with modern technology promotes naturalness and sustainability
  • Ensures functionality – Modern amenities make operations easier and increase customer comfort.

Why is the combination of rustic and modern style also advantageous from a business perspective?

  • Higher footfall and longer guest retention – A friendly and authentic atmosphere encourages customer retention and repeat visits.
  • Increased business value – A stylish and unique interior helps build a strong brand and a loyal customer base.
